I was worried that I had over watered it. I was fretting that I wasn't tender enough. And you know what? Through all of that worry the little seed just took its time and popped up through the soil when it was good and ready. Here is a picture of the sprouting persimmon the morning I noticed it and then a picture with me and the sprouting sprout! What a joy to behold! Joetsu city, Niigata Prefecture, Japan: Persimmon, Chinese Parasol Tree, Sendan seeds were sent to The 4th Blue Sky Project

I have sent Persimmon, Chinese Parasol Tree and Sendan seeds to " The 4th Blue Sky Project: An International Exhibition--Love, Blue Sky, and Peace". It is the 4th exhibition this year based on art that can be send in mail and internet. I have sent these seeds to Mr. Michio Horikawa who is an organizer of this exhibition so he would plant the seeds, hoping that by the time of the exhibiton, these seeds would sprout. Thus, these seedlings would be donated to people who come to the exhibition. Mr. Horikawa had wrote about receving the seeds in his blog with extensive pictures. Here are some of the pictures. Contemporary Landscape: Tree Project on Audrey Tran's Artful Green Dot

Hiroshi Sunairi has been asking dozens of participants from across the world to plant Hibaku seeds for his latest art piece, titled, Tree Project. Hibaku seeds come from trees that miraculously survived the atomic bomb in Hiroshima 60 years ago. New York: Christina Caputo and Hong Kong: Candice Yu got their seeds

Christina Caputo got her Persimmon and other seeds here in NY as well as Long Island. Here is what Christina wrote: " In August of 2005, I participated in a group exhibition titled Peace by Piece in which I was able to travel to Hiroshima on the 60th anniversary of the atomic bombings, curated by Hiroshi Sunairi. We also toured the Hibaku trees, the only trees that survived. Hiroshi is now distributing them and they are being planted around the world. In December 2009, the grown seedlings will be exhibited at The Horticultural Society of New York." Candice Yu got her persimmon and other seeds and grow her seeds in Hong Kong where her parents live.

Japanese artist Hiroshi Sunairi has conceived a new twist on the idea of seed bombing by sharing seeds from Hibaku trees that survived the bombing of Hiroshima with gardeners from across the globe. The curated project, titled Leur L’Existence (Tree Project), offers seeds from numerous varieties that include Round Leaf Holly, Persimmon, Chinaberry, Firmiana simplex, Japanese Hackberry and Jujube. New York, Bronx!!: Alex Neroulias's Persimmon seeds sprouted

" Hey All, YES!! my persimmon seed sprouted today some time between 5-8 pm ( Am I a cornball for knowing the time? Who cares, I'm just so stoked its come into existence). I immediately moved the pot to the nursery in the front of my house where it will get plenty of sun, company from other plants, and a chance to grow big and strong In The Bronx. Peace. My family moved to NYC 60 years ago and soon there after moved into a home in the Bronx. My grandmother planted 2 magnolia trees next to each other where they grew and lived happily until recently. My neighbor had a problem with his driveway and cut down one of the trees.
