Edmonds, WA: Sendan seeds of Gary Baxter Smith and his students sprouted

At Madrona Elementary School in Edmonds, WA, Gary Baxter Smith had a workshop with 9 students, planting an assortment of seeds including persimmon, chinese date, japanese hackberry, chinese parasol tree, the holly and the persian lilac. Then, before any other seeds sprouted, Sendan seeds sprouted.

"Sendan compared with a peanut butter jar to give an idea of how big it already is!"
"One of my student's mom sent me this picture of their Sendan plant!"
Congratulations, Gary!

Troy, Michigan: Dave Yeh planted Chinese Parasol Tree seeds and they sprouted

"Hiroshi, I planted my parasol seeds today, July 25th, and I am excited for the plants to grow."

Good Luck, Dave!

"Hey Hiroshi, My Chinese Parasol plant sprouted! I snapped off a few photos of the plant as it first began to sprout, and the second series of photos are from the next day. It was as if the plant appeared overnight (the other sprouts that you see in the photo are randomly growing plants that I can't seem to identify yet. I suppose some seeds were in the potting mix that I used.)"

Congrats, Dave!!

"Hi Hiroshi, Hope you had a happy weekend! Here are the second batch of Round Leaf Holly pics. Two seeds have now sprouted. The first has 4 leaves while the other is really itty bitty but does seem to be growing as well. I circled and made an arrow to point it out :)"

"HI Hiroshi! I've had more recent growth on my Round Leaf Holly! I'm attaching a few pictures. The leaves are shiny and they unfold as they grow. Quite exciting. The plant has enjoyed being by an open window during the day and sits on the counter during the evening. Hope you are well!"
